Summary of Huey Newton's Life

Huey Newton was born on February 17th, 1942 in Monroe, Lousiana. He had a rough childhood to say the least. He had erratic behavior in school, numerous suspensions, and constant encounters with the law. It wasn't until he saw his older brother Melvin earn a master's degree in social work, that he began to take his education seriously. After graduating high school in 1959, he pursued his college education at Merritt, where he met Bobby Seale. The two were involved in political groups at the school, but decided to create one of there own. Together, they co-founded the Black Panthers Party of Self Defense.
Not everything was flowers in sunshine for Huey Newton. A year earlier of Bobby Hutton's fatal shooting, Huey was arrested for allegedly killed an Oakland Officer. Later, he was convicted of manslaughter, but freed in the 1970's. These weren't all the charges faced Huey faced in his life. He was accused of murdering a sex worker and assaulting a tailor.
Sadly, the legendary revolutionary was shot and killed on August 22, 1980
